With over 300 million users globally, Skype is one of the world’s most loved and recognized brands. We worked with Skype to create a sonic identity system that would unify communications, build brand equity and increase affinity through the consistent use of music and sound.
As the brand grew from being a stand-alone product to a multidimensional brand, it was clear that the current sound set was not ready for the future.
But people like the way that Skype sounds; it was crucial that we maintain familiarity, while ushering it into a new era.
To ensure that every sound was consistent but also immediately recognizable as a Skype sound, we created a custom “instrument” that can be used to expand the sound set in the future.
Skype’s Sonic Identity System involves a refreshed set of audio assets that demonstrate the value of sound for the Skype brand.
Building on the equity of a key brand asset, we were able to sonically merge consumer side with business side, aligning sound across all devices and platforms for a seamless and consistent user experience.
