Tinder came to us for a product sound toolkit that could amplify the emotional impact of their platform and create a more pleasing user experience. One that agreed with the youthful, hopeful and adventurous attitude of the brand.
Crucially, it would need to be carefully balanced to surprise and delight Tinder users without ever seeming disruptive or irritating. Like TInder, the sounds needed to be current, light-hearted and delightful, so we worked to identify sound techniques that could help bring these traits to life.
We started with a comprehensive competitive review of the online dating landscape, paying very careful attention to the ways in which sound was deployed in each product. We then collected the sounds in one place, analyzed them and surfaced insights into sound trends within the product category.
In addition to understanding Tinder’s competitors, we needed to study the brand itself and find ways to translate brand values sonically.
The sounds are warm and tactile, emphasizing the positive, friendly nature of Tinder. These sounds are unique for their product category and help drive home the brand’s distinctive personality.
